Not comfortable but great protection! The pads work great and feel durable. However, the knee pads are ridiculously stiff and have no flex with your knee. The pads force you to keep your knees bent more than needed. If I tried to stand up straight, the plastic cap would dig into my skin above the knee. Super uncomfortable. I’m on the larger side of the L/XL range for my thighs, so you may encounter the same issue if you’re like me.The elbow pads are equally stiff, but I found the forced bend convenient as it lessens the force on your elbows if you fall with your hands out. So no complaints there. But my arms fit into them pretty well, so if your arms are larger, you may have the same issue as the knee pads.Overall, good value and can take a beating while keeping your joints safe. But the knee pads are way too stiff and I ended up switching to XL 187 Killer Slim pads instead. These offer so much protection. You could jump from a train and not get a scratch on your knees with these. Lol. Plus the knee pads somehow keep you knees bent in the perfect beginners stance for roller skatingThey are very high quality but they fit very tightly and you can’t fully extend your arms and legs with them on. I did a few pracitce falls onto a hardwood floor from standing up and I barely felt a thing. I bought these since I am learning how to roller skate, but i think the stiffness and awkward bending I have to do while wearing them makes them too difficult for me. They would be great for roller derby or skateboarding thoI used to just get the simple $30 sets but noticed they were just not as good as these and they didn’t last me too long before the padding was gone and it just became a simple plastic shell over time so I purchased this set and omg I love them ? they are great and the quality is soo good I definitely recommend these because I can skate comfortably now knowing that I have these pads on to protect my knees and elbows when I fall and I’ve practiced falling in them and it just feels like kneeling on cushions ?Initial Review:Got them on time, fit very well. Elbow pads are very comfortable. Knee pads are also comfortable, but the downside is the bottom of the knee pad rubs your shins due to the angle of the pad. However, I think overtime the pad will readjust and this will be less of an issue.I bought these because they're the mainstay of knee/elbow guards and the go to for roller Derby folk, but they pinched too much on me. At the time, I had 27 inch thighs and they were uncomfortable. I purchased the Smith Scabs Knee, wrist and Elbow Pad Set instead and find them more comfortable and less hot.Bought these for my sister and bought a second set for myself. I love them. 187 provides safety when skating and these are ideal for street and skatepark to protect. Not ideal for dancing or jam/rhythmic skating as they are thick on the knees
